Christine Lucas Piano Studio
Teaching since 2006! Currently accepting new students!
My teaching emphasizes the importance of strong music reading skills, artistic expression, and encouraging students to challenge themselves to be the best musician they can be!
I teach students from ages 6 through adults. Preparing for performances helps students to develop skills that are important for many areas of life (e.g. goal-setting, grace under pressure), so I plan 2 studio recitals throughout the year
and encourage students to participate in local competitions and festivals.
I’ve prepared high school students to major in music at the university level; in addition to keyboard skills, these lessons include functional harmony and ear training. I’ve taught Steinway Young Artists,
and students who have been invited to play at the state level for the Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival.
A bit about me: I studied with Marina Lupinacci during my high school years, earned my BA in Music Performance from IUP and my MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Florida State. I played in the Hopewell Community Big Band and I’ve
studied organ with Don Broderick. I often play weekend services, funerals, and weddings on both piano and organ and cantor as well. I love playing for high school musical productions and have been accompanying since 4th grade.
Music history has always been one of my passions, and I’ve taught an online 3-credit Intro to Music course at the Community College of Beaver County since 2012. I am an active member of the Pennsylvania Music Teachers’ Association,
and I chair the Lois Streator/Lois Smith Memorial Competition for the Greater Pittsburgh chapter. I’m also on the board of the Steinway Society of Western PA.
